Artistic Director, Noah Zanghi (he/him/his)
About the Director
I am a senior Music Education Major at Buffalo State University studying in the voice department. I currently am serving as the Music Director of A Hint of Orange- BSU'S first and only SATB a cappella group.
I have been singing in choral settings for thirteen years consistently. I have sang classical, musical theatre, contemporary choral works, and many, many other forms and genres over my years. With my time in ensembles, and my training as a music educator, and my passion for my community and the arts, I feel more than ready to jumpstart this choir!
I started the Buffalo Trans Choir because I saw a real lack of representation and affirmation for trans and gender-diverse people in choral spaces. I wanted to create a place where singers like me don’t have to choose between making music and being fully ourselves. This choir is about building community, finding strength in shared experience, and using our voices to claim space, visibility, and joy through music.
About the Choir
Established in 2026 after about a year of in depth planning and consideration, the choir is a community-based vocal ensemble that celebrates and uplifts transgender and gender-diverse voices in Western New York. Open to singers of all experience levels, the choir provides a safe, affirming space for self-expression, creativity, and connection through music. Centered on empowerment and visibility, the Buffalo Trans Choir rehearses works that highlight the experiences, resilience, and joy of the trans community while fostering understanding and inclusion across Buffalo’s broader arts scene.
Beyond performance, the choir emphasizes mutual support, confidence-building, and creative exploration. Rehearsals are designed to be flexible and affirming, recognizing that every voice and body is different. By centering trans leadership and lived experience, the choir creates space for growth and collaboration while strengthening community connections through shared musical work.
